David H. Henry, M.D., is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Pennsylvania Hospital, and Vice Chairman, Department of Medicine, Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and completed his post-graduate training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a practicing medical oncologist/hematologist. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Henry is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine's Subspecialty SEP Board of Hematology and a principal investigator for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group. He is co-Editor of the journal Community Oncology and a sometime reviewer for the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Archives of Internal Medicine, and the Oncologist. He is also principal investigator for several HIV oncology and cytokine studies with WBC and RBC growth factors. His principal interests for research are anemia and neutropenia in oncology. Dr. Henry is a past recipient of the Blockley-Osler Award given by the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in recognition of his teaching and he is also the Director of the University of Vienna medical student exchange program in Philadelphia. Dr. Henry has appeared in Philadelphia Magazine's Top Doctors three times. Dr. Robert G. Lerner, Cyberounds® Hematology/Oncology moderator, is Professor and Vice Chairman, Department of Medicine and Professor of Pathology at New York Medical College and is board certified in both hematology and medical oncology. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of NYU and its medical school, Bob did his postgraduate training at Bellevue, Montefiore Hospital and USC. He is a recipient of an NIH Research Career Development Award and is Chief, Hematology, Westchester County Medical Center. Intravascular coagulation, the role of leukocytes in thrombosis and the control mechanisms in coagulation are Dr. Lerner's major areas of research interest. Roger Waltzman, M.D.
Roger J. Waltzman, M.D., is Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Section of Medical Oncology and Section of Palliative Medicine, St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. Dr. Waltzman earned his M.D. degree from Brown University School of Medicine and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital, in Boston, as well as a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has been invited to speak widely, including at the annual meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, at the First International Conference on Breast Cancer in the Elderly, and for the International Society of Hematology. He also serves as a reviewer for The Women's Oncology Review. Dr. Waltzman's research has been published in such journals as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Investigation, Gynecologic Oncology, Proceedings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Leukemia Research, Proceedings of the American Association for Cancer Research, and the Journal of Supportive Oncology.
